House Bill to Modernize Data

The Modernizing Data Practices to Improve Government Act (H.R. 10151) cleared the House Oversight and Accountability Committee this past week. It is the companion piece to a Senate bill that was introduced in September. Under the bill, the CDO Council would be kept alive until 2031 and it addresses impediments to the adoption and interoperability of emerging data and AI technologies.

In addition to the Modernizing Data Practices bill, the Committee also approved sending H.R. 10132, the Federal Agency Performance Act, to the House Floor for action. This legislation builds upon the Government Performance and Results Act Modernization Act of 2010 to provide additional transparency and accountability mechanisms that improve performance and program outcomes of federal agencies. A companion bill has already been passed by the Senate.
